West County Winds Membership

West County Winds’ sixty woodwind, brass and percussion players come from the whole Bay Area and range in age from teens to 70's. Some of us joined very recently, while others have been with the band since it was established in 1985. Some of us belong to other community bands and orchestras, while some enjoy playing in WCW alone. We are variously in high school or college, working or retired. Some of us are taking music lessons, some have ceased taking lessons, and some have never taken lessons. We have members who have never ceased playing from their youth while others have picked up their instruments after a long absence or started playing as adults. We vary in musical ability and excellence from semi-professional to just squeaking by. Some of us play several instruments while others just one. We have a broad range of musical preferences: Latin, classical, jazz, ballads, etc.

We are all united, however, in our desire to make music together - to rehearse until we get it right and then perform for ourselves, our friends and families, and our community.
